Payroll Manager (Coyol, Alajuela)

In this position, you will act as the designated Payroll personnel within a centralized Regional GBS Payroll Department, ensuring the precise and timely execution of payroll processes. This role involves comprehensive payroll management for all employees within the region, maintaining accurate records and control reports. You will drive continuous process enhancements and uphold all internal policies and procedures. Additionally, you will serve as the primary trainer for staff on all operational procedures and system applications. Participation in year-end payroll closing activities and preparation of manual checks are also key responsibilities. You will ensure compliance with all internal and external audit standards and provide backup support for all Payroll Coordinators.

What will you be doing?

Oversee the daily operations of the assigned Payroll team, including pay data processing, communication with internal and external customers, and resolution of payroll discrepancies for a centralized Payroll organization. Develop and implement process improvements and training programs for Payroll staff. Serve as the primary contact for benefit and payroll transactions. Manage the integration between Workday and local payroll systems. Process payroll adjustments that occur outside the regular schedule. Ensure timely and accurate updates to employee year-end tax documents, including third-party sick pay, relocation, and other necessary information. Prepare essential monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including statutory reporting, internal and external audits, and tax reconciliations. Collaborate as a member of cross-GBS teams on projects related to Workday system upgrades, local Payroll, and Time & Attendance systems. Ensure accurate payroll data is forwarded to local finance teams for ledger entries. Execute and audit payroll outbound interfaces sent to third-party vendors.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Payroll or a related Business field, or equivalent experience in a payroll department. Experience: A minimum of 3 - 5 years of progressive supervisory experience. At least 5 – 7 years of regional Payroll experience using payroll applications in a large multi-country organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Access. Prior experience with SAP is preferred, along with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. Strong communication skills and the ability to learn quickly. Physical Demands: Capability to work in an office setting and operate a computer for extended periods.
