The Opportunity

This position is based in our Alajuela location, within Abbott's Electrophysiology division.

In the Electrophysiology business, we're advancing heart disease treatment through cutting-edge medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, enabling people to restore their health and regain control over their lives.

As the Acquisition Specialist - Indirect Materials, you will be responsible for providing materials support for non-production items (Indirect materials).

This may involve quoting, purchasing, supplier management, and administrative support.

You will be accountable for procuring materials, services, and supplies used in the manufacturing of division products.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Sourcing requirements for goods and services needed to support division objectives.
  2. Preparing purchase orders based on requisition requirements and monitoring delivery against POs.
  3. Coodinating the return of damaged goods, replacement items, or credit arrangements.
  4. Arranging vendor corrective actions and working with SQE and suppliers to enhance quality.
  5. Maintaining and updating Supplier Data base (ASL) as required.

Requirements

  • Advanced student (at least 80%) in a related business field (Supply Chain, Finance, Business Admin, etc.).
  • 0-2 years of experience in a Materials/Procurement environment.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based environment.
  • Understanding of MRP, purchasing, and production principles.
  • Able to identify and implement cost savings opportunities and develop plans to realize savings.
  • Intermediate English command is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the medical manufacturing field is desirable.
  • Statistical data analysis and report writing skills are a plus.
  • Basic project management skills are desirable.
  • Basic business planning and strategic thinking are desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO, GMP, JIT, ERP, SAP, and Lot control is desirable.
