Main Purpose of the Job
The Senior Buyer plays a vital role in supporting the strategic and tactical procurement of goods and services for Viant Medical. Key responsibilities include managing key suppliers, implementing global supply programs, and developing Procurement processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with GMP and SOP's as defined by Viant Medical policies, practices, and procedures to meet FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards.
- Purchase high-quality raw materials, components, and production supplies at the lowest cost, ensuring timely delivery to support production schedules.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers according to established strategies.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and update the PPV log tool accordingly.
- Evaluate purchases for quality and quantity requirements, reporting discrepancies to the Operations team and resolving issues with suppliers.
- Process, review, and confirm requisitions for assigned raw materials, indirect products, or services through the ERP system.
- Verify supplier accuracy and acceptance of PO information and update as required.
- Monitor daily open order reports and take necessary actions.
- Manage PO dates effectively, maintaining accurate promise dates for OTD information.
- Expedite deliveries of open purchase orders to ensure timeliness with production schedules.
- Resolve return authorization requests, negotiate credit, reworks, or replacements.
- Reconcile invoice discrepancies and help resolve AP-related issues as needed.
- Provide forecasted information to suppliers and stay informed on supplier capacity constraints.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships, meeting with vendors as necessary regarding capabilities, price quotes, or production problems.
- Participate in the development of alternate suppliers.
- Contribute to Supplier Performance scoring processes.
- Lead and participate in functional projects as required.
- Partner with internal customers to identify, organize, prioritize, and execute projects to meet global supply chain initiatives.
- Analyze problem areas using data-driven methods and lead corrective actions.
- Train, mentor, and assist Buyers with job-related questions and issues.
- Participate in corporate Sourcing initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert and site leader for program implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- APICS Certification preferred but not required.
- 5-7 years of experience in a buying/purchasing function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the medical device industry highly desirable.

Vision Requirements
Typical office environment: long periods of sitting, standing, using hands to perform computer work. Some occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
