About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Manager to join our team in Costa Rica. This individual will be responsible for leading the General Accounting team and overseeing the accounting and reconciliation process within the Shared Service Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Migration Team to transition all in-scope activities from the Americas region to Costa Rica.
- Lead, manage, and develop the General Accounting team, ensuring they meet or exceed customer expectations with accurate and timely account reconciliations.
- Maintain an effective system of internal controls and ensure compliance with Stryker policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and developing a newly created team.
- Collaborate with other Share Service teams to deliver quality results.
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership while performing escalated complex accounting duties.
- Assist in producing complete and accurate entity financial statements.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on accounting simplification and standardization opportunities.
- Ensure critical business processes are well documented and communicated to facilitate effective execution.
- Develop, measure, and distribute results-driven metrics/KPIs.
- Develop and maintain a productive team-oriented staff, and manage relationships with internal Stryker customers.
- Work with Internal and external audit teams to review and enforce policies.
- Comply with Corporate accounting policies, US and local GAAP.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant working experience in a finance function in a matrixed international company with complex reporting practices.
- US GAAP accounting expertise.
- CPA or other accounting certification required.
- Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish, with Portuguese being a plus.
- SAP, Oracle, or QAD systems knowledge is a big plus.
