Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager II role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of one or more large to medium-sized strategic initiatives, with moderate to high levels of complexity and multi-year high-value budgets.

Individuals in this role are responsible for planning, developing, and implementing project efforts, developing and maintaining all project management collaterals, and ensuring adherence to agreed delivery frameworks and guidelines.

They bring together key stakeholders to determine the scope, refine requirements, obtain necessary approvals from sponsors, and mobilize the required resources to implement the project successfully.

They are responsible for overall project coordination, development of plans and schedules, resource planning and estimation, and project maintenance.

They act as the single point of contact and effectively communicate key issues, risks, and dependencies in a timely manner and escalate appropriately through the established governance structure.

They lead various project delivery review meetings and maintain an updated status of each project through regular reporting.

They are also responsible for enforcing the change management process and ensuring the project efforts meet customer expectations for contracted time, cost, and performance.

  • Proven skills in managing within a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate vision, mission, and goals to both business and IT audiences
  • Sound understanding of technology and its application to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to provide the highest level of expertise in the application of project management discipline and Agile delivery practices
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with business owners, project sponsors, vendors, and key clients
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with key stakeholders to ensure their commitment to project outcomes and decision roles
  • Ability to develop, and continually update, project plans and schedules, and develop Work Breakdown structures
  • Ability to identify project dependencies prior to the start of the project and work with stakeholders to define/refine the project scope
  • Ability to facilitate the gathering of information required to estimate project cost, resources, time, and deliverables
  • Ability to prepare all project management planning artefacts
  • Ability to coordinate and integrate all elements of a project, including tasks, resources, stakeholders, and deliverables to ensure that processes run efficiently and meet predefined goals
  • Ability to manage competing demands from stakeholders and negotiate conflicts to find workable solutions throughout the project life cycle
  • Ability to determine staffing requirements and form project teams, develop budget requests for resources, and work with functional managers to effectively optimize resource allocation across their respective projects
  • Ability to provide work direction and leadership to assigned projects, including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts
  • Ability to support the identification of resources/components that need to be procured outside the organization, describe technical or other issues that need to be considered, and assist in the development of Statement of Work (SOWs)
  • Ability to contribute to the vendor management process involving RFI, RFQ, RFP, Bid Evaluation, Awarding, contracting, and onboarding
  • Ability to contribute to the service provider performance evaluation, verify invoiced work against the payment milestones and completed work, and provide an escalation path for resolving vendor performance disputes
  • Ability to undertake continuous identification, assessment, and monitoring of all project risks/opportunities/issues to determine their relevance and impact on the project
  • Ability to develop and maintain risk plans, processes, and systems in order to mitigate risk, create action plans for risks that occur, and follow through on plans
  • Ability to maintain an issue list, proactively escalate issues to project and departmental leadership to mitigate risk, recommend, and take action to direct analysis and solution of problems
  • Ability to estimate costs associated with a project, including physical, financial, and human capital costs, develop a detailed cost baseline from cost estimations, refine project cost estimates, and confirm funding sources
  • Ability to monitor and control the actual cost of a project versus the budget, review bills, evaluate factors that may potentially cause cost changes, conduct in-depth root cause analysis of project budget discrepancies, and utilize established project standards, procedures, and contribute to the development of new quality metrics as well as new ways of working
  • Ability to comply with established policies, procedures, and standards, identify quality metrics, and develop a communication plan to convey project scope, goals, milestones, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues to the client and project team
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of the interaction and communication with the client and project team, coach or mentor other team members, develop, positively influence, and transfer knowledge to team members

Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, IT, or any other related field
  • Requires 5-7 years of experience in the IT environment, including 3 or more years in managing Global/Enterprise Technology and Digital Solutions
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as necessary
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English
  • Accredited Project Management Certifications: PMP, Prince2, Agile Certified Practitioner, Professional Scrum Master, Disciplined Agile, Scaled Agile Framework amongst others
  • Project Manager of Global or Regional Technology and Digital Solution projects
