Job Summary:

Amentum is seeking a dedicated and motivated Procurement Specialist to support our growing business. The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and/or services in accordance with company policies and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes sources of supply, negotiates prices, delivery dates, and other necessary commitments based on authorized requisitions and complies with company policies and federal regulations.
  • Provides guidance and information to requesters, including communication of procurement actions or status, and assists with special or complex requirements.
  • Adheres to procurement procedures to assure follow-up and administration of purchase order and subcontract files.
  • Covers requisition requirements with requesters.
  • Assists in the preparation of procurement-centered reports.
  • Contacts suppliers, secures bids, and executes purchase orders in accordance with DI procedures.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions and executes purchase orders with approved suppliers.
  • Negotiates prices, delivery, and terms with approved prospective suppliers.
  • Maintains procurement records in accordance with procedures.
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the company as part of a work group or team member assigned.
  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, and losses, return of materials, over-shipments, and cancellations.
  • Provides pricing in support of Business Development or proposal efforts as required.
  • May require site visits in support of establishment of new or existing suppliers.
  • Interfaces with Procurement leadership to provide status, input, and communicates with other departments.
  • Responsible for compliance of procurement procedures in maintaining an approved Purchasing system.
  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or Business Administration from a four-year college/university.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience above that which is required for the role may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Some tasks require repetitive wrist movement.
  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and other storage locations.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
