Medical Documentation Specialist for Healthcare Industry

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Documentation Specialist to join our team at 3M, a leading global diversified health technology company. As a Medical Documentation Specialist, you will play a critical role in collecting physician documents required by third-party payers (insurance companies). This position requires frequent interactions with customers, sales teams, patients, and internal teams to aid in the collection of documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect physician documents as required by third-party payers;
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a competitive market;
  • Prioritize work lists to meet production goals and minimize risk;
  • Analyze payer-specific requirements and coverage criteria to determine necessary physician documentation;
  • Review and analyze documentation, including order forms, medical records, prescriptions, operative reports, history and physicals, as needed for physician identification;
  • Escalate issues to customers or field personnel when necessary to obtain required physician documentation for billing purposes;
  • Meet production expectations, including total accounts worked, aged document percentages, and average daily documents collected;
  • Participate in work activities deemed suitable and assigned by management;
  • Maintain current status on all compliance and other required training courses;
  • Conform to, support, and enforce all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience making outbound calls to customers;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a medical environment, allowing for familiarity with medical terminology;
  • English proficiency (C1 level);
  • Satisfactory completion of all training programs;
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation to achieve/exceed goals within set time frames.
