Pfizer's Global Business Services (GBS) Shared Services is a well-established organization with a rich history, dating back to 1997 in Memphis, Tenn. The organization has expanded globally, with a presence in Europe since 2003, Asia since 2007, Latin America since 2013, Eastern Europe since 2014, and AFME since 2016. As part of GBS Shared Services, we have a workforce of over 1,000 Pfizer colleagues, along with a successful partnership with Genpact, our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partner, in one location.

The Procure-to-Pay Team Lead role oversees the management of a team that supports P2P activities in the Americas markets, including Purchasing Requisition, Vendors Creation and Maintenance, Invoice processing, Issue resolution, payment processing, and P2P Global Support. This role provides senior leadership with operational support for P2P operations in the markets supported by GBS San Jose.

The primary goal of the Procure-to-Pay Team Lead is to deliver high-quality operations for the Procure-to-Pay process while meeting key objectives and agreed service levels. This involves defining and implementing P2P best practices according to industry standards and Pfizer's strategy, taking into account accounting standards, internal controls, regional policies, and leveraging technology platforms to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to established service level agreements, statutory requirements, and special country processing needs.
  • Review monthly operational performance with the management team and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
  • Resolve customer/team escalations effectively.
  • Partner with stakeholders on global and country initiatives, maintaining high-level satisfaction among customers.
  • Maintain and update Working Instructions and process-related documents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure controls and compliance checks are in place and reviewed regularly.
  • Develop compelling development plans for colleagues, focusing on talent growth, strengths, and abilities.
  • Work closely with senior team leads to prioritize team workload and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Owning P2P procedures from start to finish, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Manage customer expectations as the first point of contact for all P2P inquiries.
  • Solve complex issues involving multiple areas.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and translate the vision and strategy of Procure to Pay from a systems, process, policy, and procedures perspective.
  • Exceed metrics and goals while monitoring performance indicators.
  • Take initiative in identifying processes and initiatives that fit into our Digital Finance strategy.
  • Think strategically, applying strong analytical and process management skills.
  • Lead a team that may extend to a third-party outsourced team.
  • Support our GBS value proposition by aligning processes with our delivery model and global standard.
  • Enhance internal control structures and optimize processes.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and stakeholder collaborations.
  • Execute adequate internal controls and maintain up-to-date SOPs.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, as well as Senior Leaders across Pfizer, to drive shared goals and implement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Work Instructions, Job Aids, and Desktop Procedures documentation.
  • Comprehend the accounting cycle involved in each customer interaction, assessing the impact of actions within a broader organizational context.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on complex global P2P processes and procedures.
  • Take primary responsibility for market engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular reviews of process performance alongside colleagues and managers, providing expert guidance and coaching.
  • Maintain complete and accurate SOX-related internal control documentation.
  • Act decisively to optimize practices, address risks, and provide guidance to colleagues.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction by developing partnerships, understanding business unit unique requirements, being responsive, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Manage customer metrics and establish mutual goals and objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.

5+ years of experience in Procure-to-Pay operations, preferably in a similar role.

Proven track record of delivering high-quality results, exceeding targets, and driving process improvements.

Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Salary

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, based on factors such as job description, required skills, and location.
