Organization & Role

The Principal Project Supervisor holds the ultimate responsibility and oversight for medium to large-scale business and hybrid (business and technology) initiatives, ensuring the effective and timely execution of solutions that align with or surpass business objectives. In this capacity, the Principal Project Supervisor cultivates relationships and communication with the project sponsor, senior leadership, and a diverse array of project stakeholders, including external vendors, assisting them in identifying critical obstacles to project success while proactively managing all risk mitigation strategies, guaranteeing the delivery of a superior product, on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

Comprehensive Project Management:

Facilitates consistent and efficient execution of projects with budgets up to $1.0M, collaborating closely with internal business partners and stakeholders to promote the adoption and implementation of organizational standards in processes and programs. Acts as a conduit between technical and non-technical teams, both within the organization and with vendor/subcontractor entities, to ensure that project requirements, deliverables, and milestones are clearly articulated and achieved throughout the project lifecycle. Orchestrates activities and tasks among project team members, other internal departments, and vendor/subcontractor organizations as necessary to accomplish project objectives, ensuring that their completion adheres to schedule, budget constraints, and the quality standards expected by the organization. Guarantees that the project is delivered according to the success metrics defined by the business owner.

Budget, Schedule, and Resource Oversight:

Develops the project timeline to fulfill deliverables, identify critical paths, assess risks, and formulate appropriate mitigation strategies. Prepares and manages project budgets, including cost monitoring, vendor payments, and financial status reporting; provides progress updates to ensure projects remain within budget, while anticipating and addressing issues in communication with the IT PMO and project sponsors. Implements corrective actions for risks and challenges with guidance from more experienced project managers. Collaborates with the project team to gather input and validation from key project stakeholders on business and technical requirements to ensure that scope, deliverables, and timelines for execution are well understood, thoroughly documented, and actionable.

Communication Oversight:

Establishes clear and concise communication channels to disseminate and secure understanding of project plans, status updates, and issues with all stakeholders (including executive management and project teams), in accordance with the frequency and detail specified by the project governance process. Understands and communicates roles and responsibilities (and expectations) with subject matter experts (SMEs) and key business and technical leaders, continuously managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle and escalating to the appropriate parties when necessary.

Adherence to PM Methodology and IT PMO Standards:

Monitors and controls inputs and documentation, which includes project (business, technical) requirements documents, project metrics, project timelines, risk management plans, resource plans, etc. Ensures process compliance and contributes to incremental process enhancements through the application of lessons learned and other project process tools. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

Experience

6+ years of demonstrated expertise and hands-on experience in project management from inception to delivery, encompassing all elements of scope, schedule, budget, risk assessment, issue resolution, quality, integration, staffing, and communication. Advanced experience with the SDLC lifecycle across waterfall, Agile, and hybrid methodologies. Proficient analytical capabilities (data analysis and problem-solving) as well as presentation skills.

High energy level and willingness to collaborate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and highly dynamic environment. Adaptable – ability to respond to changing requirements and priorities. Demonstrated proficiency in project management practices and tools, including but not limited to 0365 tools, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Education

BS/BA degree in Business or Technology-related field (or equivalent experience). Project Management certification or equivalent (required). Agile project management certification or equivalent (preferred).
