The Opportunity

This position is located out of our Costa Rica - Alajuela location in the Electrophysiology Division. In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we are advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Strategic Financial Leader, you will be responsible for leading the Finance function for one or more value streams and serve as the primary partner for CR Senior Operation leaders in all finance-related issues. Key areas of responsibility include budget and planning, standard cost, manufacturing variances analysis and reporting, capital projects, close and reporting, and other related financial requests.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational Business Support: Supervise the day-to-day financial support to Production Managers, Supervisors, and other operations personnel. Provide operational managers with monetary spending overhead analysis and budget control; audit cycle count programs to assure their effectiveness and timely report results to management.

- Department Management: Supervise all department employees and ensure adherence to Human Resources policies and regulations, including developing department and individual goals and activities, performance evaluations, training, and coaching. Advise staff managers on financial and non-financial activities that impact, complement, or improve facility operations performance.

- Closing: Supervise the execution of the monthly general ledger close process for respective business units, including spending accruals.

- Reporting: Analyze financial results, verify their reasonableness, prepare periodic manufacturing performance reports to management, including product cost by area, and coordinate special ad hoc information requests for local, division, or corporate management.

- Budgets/Forecasting: Lead and/or supervise the annual manufacturing budget plan (material, labor & overhead); coordinate and summarize necessary data for timely preparation of quarterly forecasts, strategic plans, and other similar analyses.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and/or Finance.

- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment in Accounting and/or Finance.

- Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish).

- Knowledge of integrated cost accounting systems and information systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree a plus.

- Advanced knowledge of information systems (SAP preferred).

- Manufacturing experience preferred.

- Capable of hiring, developing, and leading a team.
