**What you will do**

The Period End Accountant will be primarily responsible for executing accounting journal entries related to assigned entities in Stryker’s newly created Costa Rica Shared Service Center.

**Essential duties & responsibilities**:

- Perform manual journal entries for assigned entities
- Review and analyze accounting transactions and related financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness and provide explanations to business partners
- Collaborate with the Accounting Reconciliation team to standardize chart of account and its usage
- Provide support to business on request related to journal/recon backups
- Support month end closing process as deem necessary
- Comply with Corporate accounting policies, US and local GAAP
- Performs other related work as assigned by management

**Education & special trainings**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
- MS Office Suite
- Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish. Portuguese is a plus
- SAP, Oracle or QAD systems knowledge is a big plus

**Qualifications & experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant working experience in a finance function in matrixed international company (preferably American or Multinational company) with complex reporting practices and with exposure to various reporting systems
- Experience of working in a shared service center across a global /large organization will be an added advantage
- CPA or other accounting certification would be a plus

**Physical & mental requirements**:

- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and multi-task
- Versatile, motivated, creative, intellectually curious, a good communicator and collaborator
- Demonstrated ability to perform consistently under varying business pressure as well as ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment
- Computer or technical knowledge
- Effective problem-solving skills
