As a Senior Program Manager, you will be a strategic partner for our executive leadership in the development, management, and execution of important enterprise-wide transformation programs at Smith+Nephew which improve our costs, customer service, compliance, sustainability or product offerings.

What will you be doing?

Program Management:

Develops project business case documents, detailed project plans, including milestones, timelines, and resource requirements.

Oversees transformation programs ensuring they meet expected scope, timeline, and budgetary requirements.

Facilitates project workshops to create alignment on project scopes, benefits, plans, and milestones.

Continuous Improvement:

Identifies business process improvements during the design, planning, and execution phases of a project.

Leads improvement workshops e.g. kaizen to drive improved efficiency, quality, costs, lead time, or customer satisfaction and can facilitate process analysis via current and future state process mapping, target operating model development, RACI development, creation of Process Flows, or the drafting of SOPs and Work Instructions with business teams.

Partners with business leaders and SMEs to enhance efficiency, quality, costs, lead time, or customer satisfaction through the transformation efforts.

Implements best practices and methodologies to improve program management and delivery.

Change Management

Engages with business stakeholders to understand their needs (voice of the customer), address concerns, and gain buy-in for transformation program changes.

Incorporates change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions, successful user adoption of new processes, systems, and behaviors and the sustainability of desired business outcomes.

Provides training and develops communications to facilitate transformation and minimize resistance.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, and cross-functional team members.

Leads program governance to ensure timely updates are communicated to senior leadership for program status, risks, issues, and benefits.

Facilitates stakeholder meetings and workshops to ensure alignment and collaboration, develops agendas, leads meetings, tracks action, escalates risks, identifies opportunities for improvement.

Risk Management:

Identifies project risks and issues, develops risk mitigation plans, and ensures corrective actions are implemented.

Ensures standard methods for risk and issue management and escalation are followed.

Performance Measurement and Reporting:

Implements program/project performance monitoring and reporting using KPIs to measure desired business outcomes and report on progress e.g. desired business outcomes, budgets, schedules, resources, changes, etc.

Uses data analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement and performs analytics or creates visualizations in Microsoft Excel or PowerBI using statistical methods to support business understanding and decision making.

Resource Management:

Determines resourcing and capabilities necessary to support transformation program delivery and ensures the team has the necessary skills, tools, and support to succeed.

What will you need to be successful?

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Life Sciences, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or similar are preferred)

Fluent in English (C1 level)

Certifications:

PMI or PRINCE 2 certification required

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification strongly preferred

PROSCI or other change management certification desired

Experience:

Must have several examples of transformation program delivery with strong track record of success and learnings from past experience.

Experience leading projects in the Medical Device or Pharmaceuticals industry is preferred.

Experience managing remote project teams and project team members via remote working (e.g. MS Teams) required.

Experience in leading cross-functional global business projects (across multiple geographies & time zones) required.

Experience in preparing and presenting program and project updates to senior business leaders required.

Ability to translate broad concepts into specific tasks/action plans and to construct integrated implementation timelines (project schedules) with clear dependencies identified and prioritized

Good at working collaboratively and getting agreements from everyone for the path forward.

Ability to measure program delivery progress and to craft structured progress updates and communications for senior business leaders.

Ability to craft and clearly communicate compelling messages to influence the thinking of business sponsors.

Sense of urgency to execute and make changes while respecting team members impacted by the changes.

Bring people along on change journey with effective communication messaging and change management approaches

Experience identifying program risks and mitigating issues which may cause progress delays.

Business acumen. Speaks and understands the language of the business and the strategic imperatives of the business. Can quickly gain understanding and link the business processes to the business strategy to ensure the creation of clear action plans. Uses insight of the business environment to improve business outcomes.

Ability to effectively manage the demands of deadlines and competing priorities across multiple project workstreams
