Job Overview:

As a
Senior Logistics Specialist
, you will play a key role in supporting our mission by ensuring the timely and compliant movement of materials across our global supply chain.

Based in
Costa Rica
, this position is responsible for the coordination of import, export, and local logistics operations, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, documentation accuracy, and operational efficiency. You will work closely with internal departments, including Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing—as well as with customs agencies, freight forwarders, carriers' partners to ensure that products and materials are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulations, including Free Trade Zone requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Import:

  • Coordinate customs release of courier and general cargo with the main logistics operator.
  • Verify urgent requests based on buyer requirements.
  • Confirm daily pre-arrival notices issued by carriers to ensure warehouse receipt.
  • Follow up with Purchasing on documents required for customs clearance.
  • Generate customs declarations for import, export, and local processes.
  • Track cargo entries and ensure alignment between declared and physical shipments.
  • Electronically confirm information to customs.
  • Prepare documentation for formal archiving (pre-filing).
  • Review and file completed customs declarations (DUAs).
  • Translate documents accompanying shipments and generate delivery instructions.
  • Request authorization to register chemical/hazardous products.
  • Electronically close customs trips for various declarations.
  • Print customs declarations to maintain up-to-date archives.

Export:

  • Ensure export of materials per Planning's requirements, with correct labeling, packaging, MTR receipts, and customs documentation.
  • Validate shipping forms and physical cargo
  • Packaging and documentation
  • Create AWBs and DUAs
  • Coordinate pick-up and dispatch
  • Coordinate customs activities with agencies and 3PLs, ensuring correct documentation.
  • Finalize export process
  • Run reports to ensure Ocean container be optimal.
  • Analyze costs of shipping air vs Ocean
  • Make sure that Libro de Operaciones be on track
  • Weekly finished goods inventory closure
  • Monthly closing support
  • Ability to work with multiple carriers, negotiate rates, among others

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, international Trade

Fluent English B2+

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Delmia.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, filters, basic formulas).
  • TICA system
  • Fluent reading and understanding of the documents to be submitted to customs (bill of lading, air waybill, letter of carriage, commercial invoice, invoice translation, packing list, and quality certificates).
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge in customs legislation, customs classification, and foreign trade, as detailed below:
  • Free Trade Zone Regime Law. Law No. 7210.

Experience:

The minimum required experience is 2 years in tariff classification, Costa Rican customs legislation, and the preparation of import and export documents for the customs process.
