About the Job
As our first dedicated Database Administrator, you will play a key role in our growth, contributing significantly to the design and implementation of best practices across our organization. This position offers an opportunity to make large meaningful contributions and lead our dynamic database scaling efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new technologies for optimal database performance.
- Collaborate with our SRE team on disaster recovery solutions, ensuring business continuity.
- Advocate for best practices across our engineering department, promoting a culture of excellence.
- Partner with developers to help deliver company-wide goals, leveraging your expertise in database architecting and optimization.
- Lead our database scaling efforts, driving innovation through data-driven decisions.
Requirements:
- Experience maintaining large databases in an enterprise environment, preferably with Amazon Aurora or MySQL.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities, with expertise in identifying and optimizing poor-performing queries.
- Familiarity with routine DBA activities such as upgrades, migration, patches, cloning, documentation, backups, and recovery.
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and at least one scripting or programming language.
- Experience working with major cloud providers, preferably AWS.
- Comfortable working in complex distributed systems and ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
