Job Description

As a Cook at Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  2. Washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
  3. Weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  4. Preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
  5. Preparing cold foods.
  6. Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  7. Testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
  8. Monitoring food quality while preparing food.
  9. Setting up and breaking down work stations.
  10. Serving food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
  11. Washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
  12. Checking and ensuring the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
