We are seeking a seasoned Risk Manager to join our Buyer Risk Prevention (BRP) Organization at Amazon Support Services Costa Rica SRL. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in risk management and a strong ability to conduct risk assessments for existing lines of business, stores, and payment products.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in proactively assessing new and emerging risks ahead of expansions of LOBs, stores, and payment products. They will partner with Risk Intelligence Analysts, Program/Product Managers, and other risk teams across the company to identify key risk indicators and appropriate mitigation to reduce fraud, abuse, and misuse on our platform.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Performing risk assessments for new products/features and existing processes/systems to surface payment risks and reputational exposure points.
- Supporting post-launch reviews to capture new risk scenarios; conducting deep dives on repeated errors to eliminate defects.
- Contributing to joint business reviews to the management team regarding emerging risks, status of risk assessments, and control performance.
- Acting as subject matter experts within our organization, providing consultation to partner teams on risk management practices.
- Self-managing work backwards timelines and key milestones required to complete risk assessments; balancing trade-offs as appropriate.

San Jose, Costa Rica
Basic Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in Risk Management or other internal controls function.
- Conduct risk assessments on emerging and established lines of business, stores, and products.
- Ability to operate in a highly ambiguous environment with minimal guidance from Manager.
- Provide clear and concise written and verbal communication throughout the assessment journey to our diverse stakeholders teams.
- Assist Sr Program and Risk Managers on continuous improvements to our team operations.
- Strong critical thinker with demonstrated ability to balance tactical and strategic work.
- Able to pivot quickly with change of prioritization and direction from Manager/Leaders.

- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
- Knowledge of Payment Industry.
- Experience working with diverse risk management framework.
- Experience applying risk methodology framework to assessments.
- Experience collaborating with risk intelligence teams.
