Data Engineer Job Summary

The Principal Data Engineer will be responsible for growing Stryker's capabilities in analytics, discovering insights hidden in data to drive business value, improve decision-making, and build data solutions to enhance outcomes and economic value.

This position will lead the design, architecture, and development of Finance Services optimized data pipelines and databases, developing and defining test/validation plans for large-scale data processing pipelines, and optimizing by improving reliability, scalability, efficiency, and data quality.

Data engineer process improvement by automating query development cycle, SDLC, contributing to unit testing for query development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide Global Analytics Data Analysts to develop optimal architectures, solve high-complexity data challenges, and coach team members in industry-leading best practices.
  • Support Global Analytics Manager to develop a global portfolio of analytics projects.
  • Solve complex issues with large, ambiguous datasets.
  • Develop cloud data-based technologies and innovative solutions to add value to all functions around Stryker Corporation.
  • Design and deploy data pipelines using cloud technologies.
  • Design and develop REST/ SOAP APIs to ingest data.
  • Integrate and consolidate multiple datasets, find hidden patterns in data, cleaning.
  • Performance optimization, data architecture, and data improvements.
  • Effectively communicate and present complex analytics to stakeholders and customers.
  • Design and implement automated reporting dashboards to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across multiple segments of the business.
  • Identify data improvements and suggest recommendations to influence and close data gaps.
  • Support development and update of internal procedures and documentation that encompass the full lifecycle of data engineering-related activities.
  • Understand business objectives for data analytics and ensure adherence to established business and data governance processes.
  • Support CI/CD tools integration/operations/change management.
  • Continuously mentor other engineers or peers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or related fields.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: GCP, AWS, AZURE platforms certifications, Power BI, Tableau reporting certifications.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 6+ software engineering experience or equivalent, with incremental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience developing process improvement, automation, or data analytics solutions for Finance organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience as a team leader or technical leader of groups developing process improvement, automation, or data analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience connecting and automating to multiple ERPs using industry-available tools.
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence and analytics platforms.

Estimated Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 per year
