This position is based in our Costa Rica - Alajuela location within the Electrophysiology Division.
In our Electrophysiology (EP) business, we are advancing heart disease treatment through innovative medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, enabling people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, services, and supplies used in the facility are procured at competitive prices and meet quality/quantity standards.
Your tasks may include obtaining price quotes, specifications, and other information required for purchasing decisions.
You may also be responsible for supplier performance tracking and reporting.
You will locate, recommend, and support the implementation of alternative supplies in line with requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare purchase orders per requirements of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) requisitions, Stock Transfer Orders (STO), and monitor delivery of products against POs and STOs.
- Negotiate Estimated Time of Arrivals (ETAs) as needed.
- Arrange for vendor corrective action and work with Supply Quality Engineering (SQE) and suppliers to improve quality.
- Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventories in support of production schedules, collaborate with suppliers to maintain adequate supplies and minimize shortages.
- Identify and approve suppliers, establish purchasing protocols and procedures to ensure purchases meet quality and design specifications and are cost-competitive.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to establish supplier audit procedures and track their performance.
- Manage the entire purchasing record-keeping process, including PO generation and verification of invoices against POs.
- Establish procedures for and manage the return of damaged goods, replacement items, or credit arrangements.
- Sourcing/quoting requirements for goods and services necessary to support division objectives.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in a materials/procurement environment.
- Advanced statistical data analysis and report writing skills.
- An understanding of MRP, purchasing, and production principles.
- The ability to identify and implement cost savings opportunities and develop plans to realize savings.
- Multitasking, prioritization, and meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
- Intermediate/advanced command of English.
It would be advantageous if you had:
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
- Basis Portuguese language proficiency.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.
