Job Summary

We are seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager - Medical Devices to join our team at Cardinal Health.

About the Role

The Senior Buyer/Planner plays a critical role in managing the purchase of raw materials and services required by the manufacturer of finished goods. This includes negotiating pricing and terms for all purchase orders and contracts, as well as monitoring supplier performance and quality control activities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the capacity statement.
  • Work with the engineering group to remove factory constraints through improvement projects that increase capacity.
  • Lead a game plan process to define a build plan for short- and midterm horizons.
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly goals for different product platforms, considering factory resources and constraints.
  • Develop planning scenarios to evaluate alternatives supporting demand changes.
  • Perform material requirement analysis to avoid supply disruption.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms for the purchase of all raw materials.
  • Establish optimum buying patterns and implement lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance regarding on-time deliveries and product quality.
  • Determine risk levels per supplier and identify strategies to minimize risk.
  • Administer communication between the Costa Rica facility and suppliers, including purchase order generation and distribution.
  • Manage and review MRP runs in the ERP system, ensuring correct parameters for accurate messages.
  • Ensure purchasing procedures and activities comply with FDA and ISO standards.
  • Facilitate supplier auditing with the QA Department to ensure compliance with CMS procedures.
  • Establish annually purchasing standards for all raw materials and provide updates on PPV forecasts and activities.
  • Support new product introduction processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or industrial engineering.
  • Advanced English language technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in purchasing and/or planning and production control, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with custom-manufactured medical components is preferred.
  • New product development activities are desirable.
  • 3 years of experience with ERP, AS400 preferred.
  • APICS and/or CPM certifications are preferred.
  • Computer skills in Computer Based Purchasing Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer an estimated salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
