The Opportunity
This position is part of the Abbott Vascular team, which develops innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease. As a Technical Lead, you will play a key role in driving technical excellence and innovation within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach less experienced engineers to develop robust problem-solving methodologies and implement scientific and critical thinking.
- Support the Abbott Vascular Quality System (AVQS) as a recognized SME, solving high-complexity manufacturing and quality issues with site-level impact.
- Promote and lead cost improvement projects, manufacturing productivity improvement projects, or process improvement projects using holistic engineering solutions.
- Supervise and provide technical assistance to personnel, ensuring their correct training, development, and performance management.
- Perform installation/validation activities for new or existing production processes/lines, meeting regulatory and AVQS requirements.
- Develop technical process knowledge and correlate critical-to-quality attributes in engineering documentation to drive variability reduction and optional product performance.
- Foster relationships with external suppliers/vendors to leverage knowledge and best practices for the manufacturing process and business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Experience leading a cross-functional team towards solving complex technical issues impacting the business.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving tools and methodologies, innovation, resourcefulness, and scientific analysis.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and tools (DOE, SPC).
- Experience in deploying risk reduction strategies to improve product quality.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred, not required.
- Graduate (master or above) field of study preferred, not required.
- Knowledge of FDA, GMP, and ISO guidelines for medical regulated industry.
