Main Purpose of the Job: The Senior Buyer at Viant Medical supports the strategic and tactical procurement of goods and services. This role involves managing key suppliers and supply relationships, implementing global supply programs, and developing Procurement processes. Effective communication is crucial in this position, both with suppliers, internal team members, and customers.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with GMP and SOPs to meet FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards.
  • Purchase high-quality raw materials, components, and production supplies at the lowest cost, while ensuring timely delivery to support production schedules.
  • Negotiate price increases with suppliers, following established strategies.
  • Maintain the PPV log tool updated with unfavorable PPV impacts.
  • Manage assigned raw materials, components, and supplies at required inventory levels, using the Purchase Authorization Approval form when necessary.
  • Ensure purchases meet quality and quantity requirements, reporting discrepancies to the Operations team and resolving them with suppliers.
  • Process, review, and confirm all requisitions for assigned raw materials, indirect products, or services, converting them into POs through the ERP system.
  • Confirm PO information with suppliers and update as required.
  • Review daily open order reports and take appropriate action.
  • Manage PO dates properly, maintaining accurate promise dates for OTD information.
  • Expedite, follow up, or extend deliveries of all open purchase orders to ensure timeliness with production schedules, while proactively ensuring timely ordering.
  • Manage return authorization requests and negotiate credit, reworks, or replacements.
  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies and help resolve AP-related issues as needed.
  • Provide forecasted information to suppliers and stay informed on supplier capacity constraints.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships, meeting with vendors as necessary regarding capabilities, price quotes, or production problems.
  • Participate in the development of alternate suppliers.
  • Participate in the Supplier Performance scoring process.
  • Lead and participate in functional projects as required.
  • Partner with internal customers to identify, organize, prioritize, and execute projects to meet global supply chain initiatives.
  • Use data-driven analysis methods to identify root cause problem areas and lead corrective action.
  • Train, mentor, and assist Buyers with job-related questions and issues.
  • Participate in corporate Sourcing initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert and site leader for program implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • APICS Certification is preferred but not required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a buying/purchasing function or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is highly desirable.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and POWER POINT.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical office environment: long periods of sitting, standing, using hands to perform computer work.
  • Some occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
