About the Role
We're seeking a seasoned Data Engineering Manager to lead a team of 7-10 contributors in building a brand new team. You will play a vital role in improving customer data quality and AI model effectiveness. Collaborate with product managers, AI collaborators, and engineering teams to develop features and frameworks that enhance data quality and operational efficiency.

- Cultivate a culture of Operational Excellence and Quality Obsession.
- Rethink the approach on data quality and support across Data Engineering and MLOps and come up with long-term strategy and solutions.
- Maintain high standards of Software Engineering Excellence by collaborating closely with peers and team members.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships across the organization to promote collaboration and ensure alignment on project goals.
This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and instead work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico but preferably in Mexico City, as we encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance, and location.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- At least 3 years of management experience with a proven track record of developing and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- At least 5 years of data engineering and software development experience.
- Strong knowledge in areas of operational excellence in data engineering space.
- Strong knowledge in areas of data engineering, including Spark, Airflow, Python, and SQL.
- Good understanding of MLOps space.
- Nice-to-have working experience in Databricks, Flink, Kafka, and NoSQL stores.
- Passion for mentoring, growing the potential of others, and supporting direct reports.
- Iterative approach to software development combined with dedication to ownership, moving fast, and thinking big.
- Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, complex environments with minimal oversight.
- Collaborative working style with a strong focus on well-adapted execution and results.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field required
