**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

- Within 30 days, you will need to:

- Have an understanding of the role that DMT plays in the E2E deal lifecycle at VMware
- Be proficient at navigating DMT's internal Confluence site
- Gain awareness of all existing automation efforts currently underway within DMT
- Identify and meet with key stakeholders within DMT and external to DMT that will be necessary to help in your understanding of current state manual processes
- Within 90 days, you will need to:

- Review open manual processes to determine if accurately reflected
- Meet with key stakeholders and SMEs to conduct thorough reviews of manual items
- Propose and participate in solutioning to reduce manual activities for DMT
- Within 180 days of employment, you will:

- Identify and prioritize measurable improvements that can contribute to reduction of the manual tracker.Have the ability to show a cost benefit analysis and show impact of manual activities and the effect they have to deal velocity and ease of doing business
- Improvements may take the form of CPQ Enhancements, RPA Initiatives, Process simplification or Policy changes
- Be a champion and driver of DMT in working with stakeholders and SMEs to drive reduction in manual activities using one of the methods above
- Participate in key projects as required representing DMT with a focus on understanding impact to manual processes

**The Work: What type of work will you be doing?
What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
**
- One of the primary objectives of this position is to manage manual processes internal to DMT.DMT has an essential and critical role in the E2E deal lifecycle.As we scale to grow our business, it is imperative that we streamline and simplify our processes and do so quickly.We are in the "work smarter, not harder" phase of growth and this role will have a central voice in these efforts.To accomplish this effort there will be two major tasks that this role will be responsible for
- Goal #1: thorough review of the entire manual tracker to ensure that all manual activities that DMT does currently are captured accurately as well as ensuring that processes or programs no longer in play are not being actively counted.This also involves creating a regular, on-going cadence with impacted stakeholders so we can ensure that the tracker remains updated real-time.You will need to report out on these data points on a regular basis to DMT leadership, not only showing current state counts, but also reflecting trends and changes over time.To be successful in this item, you will need to deep dive and become a mini-SME in the process.
- Goal #2: drive reduction in the amount of manual activities and tasks for DMT.This involves working with SMEs to identify specific areas to target and then determining the appropriate solution to drive the reduction.Potential solutions and stakeholders will vary depending on the item being addresses.You will be key in this activity as this is one of a very small amount of roles that has a complete 360 view of all DMT processes as well as knowledge and access to all of the different resolution paths.One size does not fit all here, so flexibility and creativity will be required.
- You will need to identify and partner with appropriate resources to learn about manual processes that exist today and potential solutions to those activities.Effective communication and fostering of cross functional relationships will be central to your success in this role.
- Inform DMT Leadership on a regular basis and ad-hoc as needed about the current status of the manual tracker, show trends over time and report on activities being driven or partnered with that are leading to reduction in the manual tracker.
- You will need to be able to create presentations and present to executive leadership within DMT.

The Hiring Manager for this role is Matthew Pau, Director of Deal Management, Field Operations, who leads the team from California.
He is a 14 year veteran of the Deal Management organization at VMW, joining when the role was first created and recently moving to the operations side of the team.
