**Your Role and Responsibilities**
- You are an intermediate or senior software engineer and architect with an interest in building scalable distributed systems. We need team members who can help us scale our backend services to handle events coming from hundreds of thousands or even millions of devices.
- You enjoy and take pride in your work and are comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and international team.
- You are proactive at work. You take ownership of problems and solutions.

**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- You should be familiar with the Scala programming language, its ecosystem and its tools (e.g. sbt). You should have a good grasp of the fundamentals of functional programming.
- Some knowledge of Akka: Actors, HTTP, Persistence, Streams, etc
- Good understanding of distributed systems (Pub/Sub, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Resiliency Patterns, CAP, etc.)
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
- You know when to choose a SQL vs NoSQL database and understand the implications of NoSQL (e.g., CAP).

**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Familiarity with a few other programming languages and environments, such as Python and/or Typescript.
- Experience with Cassandra and/or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with functional programming libraries such as Cats Effect and/or ZIO.
