Information Officer

Macfadden, part of PAE, provides support to USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). BHA leads and coordinates the U.S. Government’s humanitarian assistance efforts overseas in response to natural disasters and protracted crises. The bureau also supports early recovery efforts that restore and protect basic systems and services and invests in risk reduction programs that prevent or reduce risks associated with chronic and recurrent hazards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collect, synthesize, and analyze information pertaining to humanitarian emergencies and response efforts, and draw upon that information to draft, edit, appropriately format, and disseminate a wide range of internal and external information for the LAC region.
- Attend meetings in the LAC region and collaborate closely with BHA/LAC staff, contractor consultants, and with information counterparts from other USG agencies, the UN, and nongovernmental organizations to ensure that all relevant humanitarian information is obtained and communicated to BHA/LAC staff.
- Upon the request of BHA/LAC staff, gather information for or participate in field assessments, meetings, and site visits in the LAC region.
- Prepare field notes, meeting notes, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and other correspondence as requested.
- Upon the request of BHA/LAC staff, provide trainings or overviews to DRMSs or surge staff on best practices in reporting and information management.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor degree in relevant field required; Master’s degree, or higher, preferred; 2-4 years of work experience in a relevant field.
- Knowledgeable of humanitarian issues.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English Level 4 minimum required, Level 5 preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree, or higher, preferred; 2-4 years of work experience in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English Level 4 minimum required, Level 5 preferred.
