Major Gift Officer

Habitat for Humanity International is seeking to hire a Major Gift Officer - HDC (Habitat Development Council). The Major Gift Officer is responsible in a variety of areas of focus that include.

**Strategy Development**: The HDC MGO assists on planning and implementation of the LAC HDC Strategies.

**Donor Engagement**: The HDC MGO cultivate the LAC HDC members and ask, negotiate, close, stewardship, and renovate gifts from LAC HDC members and his circle of friends.

**Income Generation**: The HDC MGO is a front-facing fundraising position with high revenue target.

**Donor Stewardship**: The HDC MGO manage a stewardship and communication plan to ensure we keep major donors engaged

**Key Responsibilities**:
Strategy Development (25%)
- Working closely with the Director, lead the development and implementation of a strategy to interest and engage major donors in the Latin America & The Caribbean to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

Donor Engagement (25%)
- Function as the primary Habitat contact to proactively manage and foster relationships with existing and prospective major donors, making connections with Habitat National Directors, RD staff and others.
- Source a pipeline of potential High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs: people who have the capacity to give gifts greater than US$100,000) through systematic and ongoing prospecting activities; proactively pursue relevant networking opportunities and establish meaningful relationships.
- Work collaboratively with the RD team at the LAC AO and Habitat HQ, to drive pipeline development, while working with colleagues across the Habitat network more generally to support major donor fundraising efforts.
- In line with our values, be a passionate ambassador for Habitat, and a positive representative of Habitat both internally and externally and on occasion, speak publicly to promote key initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with Habitat HQ and Habitat RD teams in EME, AFR and AP on the engagement and stewardship of Habitat Development Council (HDC) members; help ensure global alignment of HDC mission, principles, and operating procedures.

Income Generation (25%)
- Secure 6-figure gifts to fund Habitat’s programs across the LAC region and contribute to meeting annual revenue goals and be accountable for individual and team KPIs.
- Work closely with Habitat colleagues to identify and collate compelling project information for HNWIs, drafting and presenting proposals to attract and secure significant funding.
- Think creatively and innovatively and work closely with the RD team and with colleagues in Communications to produce top quality, attractive pitches and presentations to donors.

Donor Stewardship (25%)
- Manage the portfolio of partnerships with HNWIs and oversee the complexities of individual donor requirements.
- Manage a stewardship and communication plan to ensure we keep major donors engaged.
- Initiate, develop and deliver engagement and stewardship activities and events for existing and prospective donors.
- Deliver accurate and engaging reports for donors, ensuring that we meet their funding and reporting criteria and exceed their expectations.
- Support RD Director and LAC with gift and pledge acknowledgements, pledge documentation and processing, as well as payment reminders.
- Fulfill the role of a database administrator for leadership gifts, engaging the moves management approach, maintaining accurate and up-to-date current prospects and partner records in our donor management system, and producing appropriate reporting, as necessary.
- Serve as the lead for all leadership giving data queries, providing CRM consultative services and training for other AO staff.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree
- Years of Related Experience: 5-10 years. At least 5 years of front-line experience in LAC HNWI fundraising, with a passion for networking and relationship building.
- Track record of managing a successful donor portfolio, achieving targets as part of a strategic fundraising plan, and maximizing income from existing and prospective donors.
- Experience in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Full bilingual English and Spanish; outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Pursuant to current HFHI policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.
