About the Role:

As our first dedicated DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will own our cloud infrastructure. This is a greenfield role focused on building secure, reliable, and automated systems from the ground up. You will be responsible for moving our operations from a reactive to a proactive state, directly enabling our development team to deliver value faster and more safely.

What You'll Do:

• Own, manage, and optimize our cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Design and implement an infrastructure security strategy, including vulnerability scanning and access controls.
• Establish and automate our system update and software patching processes.
• Develop a monitoring, logging, and alerting system to proactively identify and address issues.
• Lead our incident response process and conduct blameless post-mortems to drive improvements.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to improve our development lifecycle.

What We're Looking For:

• Core Skills:
• Strong, hands-on experience managing production environments in AWS (EC2, S3, EKS, VPC, IAM).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Work Style:
• You are comfortable with high levels of ownership and autonomy.
• You prioritize simple, robust solutions over unnecessarily complex ones.
• You focus on building automated and preventative systems to minimize future incidents.
• You can clearly communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to the team.

Nice to Have:

• An interest in American sports or sports betting is a plus, as it provides context for our user-focused environment.
