Job summary
Amazon is looking for a people manager for a newly launched Tax Engine Operations team in San Jose, Costa Rica. Main goal of the team is to provide product classification services and hence define the correct tax rate (sales tax, VAT, service tax, and other consumption taxes) of products Amazon is selling on its marketplaces and other e-commerce platforms. The Tax Engine Operations team is a part of The Global Tax Calculation Services Program.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead the team of Tax Analysts (6+)
- Discuss and drive individual and team development and performance metrics
- Participate in team operational excellence programs and process improvements, aiming for increased process automation and support of team KPIs
- Maintain metrics and reporting for measuring process improvement
- Cooperate with other Managers and Analysts in EU and US
- Perform basic product taxability research across a wide range of categories
- Utilize extensive product catalog attributes and other data to ensure products are classified properly for indirect tax purposes

About the team
Product Classification Services (PCS) Team was launched in Bratislava, Slovakia in May 2018 with the main goal of ensuring correct taxation is being applied on products sold on Amazon. Over the years, the team has grown significantly in terms of head count as well as scope, and nowadays consists of three parts: 1) Operations (located in Bratislava and San Jose), 2) Taxonomy and 3) Project team (both located in Barcelona, Spain). Operations is the core function of PCS, responsible for manual and automated product classification for tax purposes. Taxonomy team is built out of tax lawyers who perform global tax research, to help us reflect on legislative changes. The Project team supports both sides with process improvements, reporting and analytical tasks.
