We are seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team. As an ideal candidate, you will oversee production planning and inventory management for various products, prioritizing operations to ensure optimal performance and minimal delays. This role will involve leading initiatives for continuous improvement, product flow, and capacity enhancement to boost overall manufacturing efficiency while meeting service level objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Materials Management: Generate, modify, and expedite purchase orders based on requirements from MRP, project teams, or other internal stakeholders. Coordinate with internal teams to maintain optimal service levels and establish material support priorities. Monitor purchase orders, staying informed of any issues or delays, and communicate impacts to relevant parties. Support material needs for product development to ensure competitive strategy. Drive ongoing cost savings and maintain competitive pricing across all areas. Mentor junior buyers as needed, managing complex commodities and projects while initiating and implementing change ideas.
- Supplier Relations: Monitor and communicate supplier quality and delivery performance. Engage in early sourcing for projects, obtaining bids to foster a competitive environment. Resolve supplier-related issues while maintaining positive and professional relationships. Stay informed about market trends relevant to your responsibilities.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to FDA and BSI standards. Review raw material document change orders and maintain accurate purchasing master data. Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Quality teams to ensure timely throughput and proper prioritization of received materials.
- Inventory Oversight: Manage complex, high-impact commodities and projects. Make purchasing decisions to achieve internal customer service goals, targeted inventory turns, and cost-effective material procurement. Identify and appropriately dispose of expired, excess, and obsolete materials.
- Supplier Development: Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to co-manage supplier relationships, ensuring business continuity and strategic growth of the vendor portfolio.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field with 6-8 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in English is required.
- Experience in the medical industry is essential.
- Proficient in personal computer applications, including email, record-keeping, database management, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Ability to thrive in a self-managed team environment and adapt to various work schedules. Strong analytical skills to read, interpret, and write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of solving practical problems and navigating diverse variables in situations with limited standardization. Proficient in mathematical concepts relevant to procurement.
