Position Overview:

This Software Developer II (Java) position within the GEO-IS Solutions division involves collaborating with a team of developers dedicated to enhancing our customer and district operations. Our team is responsible for implementing innovative solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and sustain robust applications aligned with enterprise architectural standards.
  • Utilize established software development patterns and methodologies.
  • Identify potential risks while adhering to cybersecurity and corporate development protocols.
  • Share and cultivate role-specific knowledge and skills.
  • Deploy optimized code validated through performance metrics.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and unit testing to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Translate complex business needs into actionable technical tasks.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper version control and backup of solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize maintenance and technical liabilities.
  • Collaborate to establish and promote best practices within the team.
  • Provide training to end-users and stakeholders for effective solution utilization.
  • Support agile methodologies and keep project management systems updated.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Java programming with Spring Boot and component-based development.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient in object-oriented programming and component-based development using Java.
  • Familiarity with Python, Angular, Kafka, Spring, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, XML, JMS, and both relational and document-oriented databases.
  • Experienced in Agile software development practices.
  • Skilled in code versioning and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab).
  • Proficient with IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ, along with various plugins, Maven, and Nexus.
  • Able to work effectively within a cross-functional development team.
  • Self-motivated with a customer-focused mindset and strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Expeditors' products/services and the freight forwarding sector.
  • Experience with UI/UX design principles.
  • Oracle Java certification.
  • SAFe or Agile certification.
