Job Summary:
The Abbott company is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Alajuela, Coyol location. As a key member of the Vascular division, you will play a vital role in developing innovative products and processes for the treatment of vascular disease.

About the Role:
This position involves collaborating with Quality and Research and Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into our existing manufacturing area. You will be responsible for initiating and completing technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes, which align with our company's strategic goals and objectives. This may include preparing reports, publishing findings, and making presentations to communicate results. Additionally, you will analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles to complex and advanced issues that require novel approaches or breakthroughs in technology. Your expertise will help us stay ahead in the industry by understanding emerging technologies and trends, as well as cultivating internal and external networks to complete tasks efficiently. As an experienced engineer, you will also serve as a resource for new engineers and employees, providing feedback, guidance, and mentoring them to excel in their roles.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new products or processes;
  • Analyze data from JMP and INFINITY to propose process improvements;
  • Maintain manufacturing systems, such as SAP routers and BOMs, current and compliant with regulations;
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
  • Ensure production lines output meets specifications and maintains quality control standards;
  • Develop knowledge in a field to become a recognized leader or authority in an area of technical specialization;
  • Apply this knowledge in leadership roles within the company to drive innovation and improvement;
  • Act as a spokesperson to customers on business unit capabilities and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related STEM field and at least 1 year of experience in a related field. A strong understanding of statistical techniques (DOE, SPC), as well as knowledge of FDA, GMP, and ISO guidelines, is essential. Additionally, experience in deploying risk reduction strategies and detailed understanding of operational metrics such as UPH, OTIF, MPSP, MSP, and cycle time are highly desirable. As a seasoned professional, you will be able to exercise judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution and contribute actively to improve key process indicators.
