Job Summary
Canonical is seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of Java runtimes and tooling for Ubuntu. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, cloud-native software, and open-source development, as well as excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement the JVM roadmap for Ubuntu
- Select, integrate, and package best-of-breed JVM tooling in Ubuntu
- Develop high-quality code to create new features and fix existing issues
- Review and provide feedback on code produced by other engineers
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in Java development, preferably in cloud-native software
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Strong understanding of open-source development principles
