Program OverviewThis role offers the opportunity to be part of our team in Cartago, Costa Rica, assisting in the running and operation of various aspects of our community programs. Key responsibilities include volunteer coordination and supervision, general planning, logistics, and maintaining high standards of health and safety.
As a Community Field Assistant, you will contribute to the active development of projects, programs, and long-term goals. You will have the chance to engage with local communities, support quality education for all, and address social and environmental issues such as health education and human rights.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in organizing and leading activities for volunteers in the field, mainly including community development, teaching, women empowerment initiatives, and healthcare.
- Support the running and development of projects, adopting a flexible work approach that may involve working evenings and weekends.
- Act as an enthusiastic role model for volunteers, providing guidance and mentorship, and ensuring the continuation of programs to a high standard for both volunteers and project partners.
- Contribute to administrative tasks, including reporting and scheduling, if needed.
- Fluency in Spanish
- Experience in volunteering, preferably in community work
- Experience traveling or living in a foreign country
- Ability to live in a communal setting
- Teaching experience, comfortable holding presentations and leading discussions on community and culture for larger groups
- Background in development work, physically able to lead volunteers on various activities
- Advantageous: TEFL Experience, developing curriculums for different language levels and end goals
