**Your Role and Responsibilities**
As a Software Engineering Manager on the Db2 Team, you will contribute to the design and implementation of new database warehousing functionality in the Db2 engine.
In this role you will be able to express your passion for people and process, you will work closely with other cross-functional leaders to understand goals and vision and you will translate goals and vision into engineering objectives for your team.
Primary responsibilities includes:

- Produce estimates to support decision making and feature prioritization on high-level projects.
- Drive customer success serving as the primary escalation point for external/internal customers regarding issues, coordinating across all internal teams to ensure issue resolution is completed in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports our client needs.
- Ensure depth and breadth of technical skills are maintained across the team to support customer demand.

- Manage projects, track dependencies and guide your team towards their delivery objectives.
- Nurture innovation and celebrate out-of-the box thinking.
- Facilitate collaboration as well as self-organization within the team.
- Manage entire life cycles of projects, from concept, through release, to production and its support.
- Manage the day-to-day priorities for individual engineers, driving high levels of quality and productivity.
- Build and grow your team through acquiring, up-training and retaining the highest level talent.
- Mentor, support and coach individual engineers for their professional, technical and personal growth.
**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Five years experience in managing development teams and people management.
- Planning, Tracking, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, prioritisation.
- Track record of building teams that deliver on business commitments.
- Thorough understanding of the Agile development process.
- Strong and intuitive communication skills.
- Experience working with SQL database (Db2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
- Prior experience in programming using languages like C/C++/Java, design and architecture.
**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Strong development experience in a Db2 environment.
- 5+ years' scripting experience with Perl and Python.
- At least 5 years experience in C/C++ Programming.
- At least 5 years experience in Relational Database and SQL.
