**About the role**

Our GVI hub is located in Cartago, a Costa Rican city southeast of San José. As the Education Program Coordinator in Cartago you will assist with sustainable development of existing and new programs with a specific focus on our Education Program. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education, who has experience mentoring/managing volunteers, who speaks proficient Spanish and is excited to live in a stunning part of Costa Rica.

Role and responsibilities:

- Assist in the running and development of education projects: long term objective setting, weekly schedules, planning project delivery and logistics
- Assist in the management of international participants
- Manage professional, high quality training sessions for all participants
- Assist in teaching/covering classes and all community activities when participant numbers are low
- Assist Program Manager to continuously seek to improve the quality of the program for participants, which might include things like extra activities, training opportunities, services or expedition products
- Assist Program Manager with tasks including health and safety, recruitment, training of new staff, writing of reports and updating of social media
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of projects including data collection and report writing
- Lead participants to plan and lead lessons and workshops that are effective, participatory and enjoyable
- Assist with administrative work if needed, including reporting and scheduling
- Assisting with the daily running of the hub, as well as welcoming new participants
- Adopt a flexible work approach that will include working evenings and weekends where necessary, as well as assisting in base chores
- Maintain good relationships within the community and serving as a representative of GVI at all times

Professional skills and experience:

- Proficient Spanish is required for this role
- Teaching and community development experience
- TEFL certification
