The General Accounting Manager will be responsible for America US GAAP accounting and reconciliation process in Stryker’s newly created Costa Rica Finance Shared Service Center. This position will
- Work with the Migration Team on the transition of all in-scope activities from the Americas region to Costa Rica
- Lead, manage, and develop the General Accounting team within the broader Record to Report team
- Maintain an effective system of internal controls and to ensure compliance with Stryker policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations

**What you will do**:

- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring and development of newly created team
- Lead and develop a team who assures the highest levels of customer satisfaction by meeting or exceeding customer expectations with accounting adherence to US GAAP as well as qualitative and timely account reconciliations
- Play a key role in the work migration activities from other Stryker locations, including knowledge transfer and documentation activities
- Collaborate with other Share Service teams to deliver quality results
- Provide day to day technical leadership while performing escalated of complex accounting duties
- Assist production of complete and accurate entity financial statements
- Promote continue improvement initiatives with R2R space with particular focus on accounting simplification and standardization opportunities
- Ensures critical business processes are well documented and communicated to facilitate effective and efficient execution.
- Develop, measure and distribute result and efficiency drive metrics / KPI’s
- Develops and maintains productive team-oriented staff, and manages relationships with internal Stryker customers
- Work with Internal and external audit teams to review and enforce policies
- Comply with Corporate accounting policies, US and local GAAP
- Performs other related work as assigned by management

**What you need**

**Education & special trainings**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
- MS Office Suite
- Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish. Portuguese is a plus
- SAP, Oracle or QAD systems knowledge is a big plus
- 7 plus years of relevant working experience in a finance function in matrixed international company (preferably American or Multinational company) with complex reporting practices and with exposure to various reporting systems
- US GAAP accounting expertise
- CPA or other accounting certification required
