Role Overview
This position is dedicated to supporting the implementation of the First Time Right (FTR) program across different operations sites within Philips. The goal of the FTR program is to promote a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks in order to ensure the production and delivery of high-quality products. As a Quality Optimization Engineer, you will have a key role in advancing this initiative by collaborating with site teams to conduct FTR events, provide guidance to personnel, and decrease risks in processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing continuous improvement events at operations sites, concentrating on establishing necessary conditions for manufacturing quality parts and putting in place preventative measures against defects.
- Work together with diverse teams to evaluate and prioritize risks, create action plans, and carry out corrective actions to enhance product quality.
- Act as a mentor to site staff, offering counsel on FTR principles, methodologies, and tools to enable proactive risk management in their daily tasks.
- Collaborate with site leadership to secure backing, advocacy, and resources required for the successful execution of FTR initiatives.
- Supervise and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) linked to quality, defects, waste, and field actions, identifying patterns and opportunities for enhancement.
- Lead ongoing improvement endeavors within the FTR program, utilizing data-driven insights and best practices to refine processes and improve product quality.
- Ensure the establishment and attainment of program goals, as well as effective communication with management and product owners, facilitation of cross-functional integration, coordination of logistics, and adherence to budgets.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Management, preferably in a production setting, including a minimum of three (3) years in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; postgraduate degree is a plus.
- Proficient in English.
- Thorough knowledge of problem-solving techniques like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving aptitudes, ability to analyze intricate data and derive practical insights.
- Experience in guiding or training others in quality enhancement methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with risk management approaches and methodologies, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Competence in project management tools and tactics, capacity to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Dedication to quality, safety, and the principles of continuous improvement.
