Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator to join our robust Database SWAT team (Software Action Team).

The Database SWAT Team plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational stability of our customer applications and infrastructure services. Our engineers are at the forefront of ensuring production stability across all service levels, providing ultimate support for both internal and external clients. The ideal candidate for this position should have a solid background in database technologies, performance analysis, and proficient troubleshooting skills. A genuine enthusiasm for resolving complex system issues under real-world conditions is essential. This role offers a dynamic environment where you can directly impact our organization and customer base, gaining comprehensive knowledge of the platform from end to end.

What you will be doing in this role:

  • Developing automation tools to enhance day-to-day operations
  • Becoming an expert in production triage, gaining extensive knowledge of ServiceNow's applications and codebase, collaborating with various teams within Engineering/Operations, and external groups such as Customer Support
  • Mastering the identification and resolution of bugs and challenging performance issues swiftly. The SWAT team provides an excellent opportunity to grow into a versatile problem solver and performance analyst
Qualifications

Key requirements for success:

  • 4+ years of experience in performance engineering and database management, focusing on PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB
  • 4+ years of experience supporting or testing large-scale web-based distributed applications
  • 4+ years of hands-on involvement with SaaS, PaaS, or Cloud Infrastructure products/solutions
  • Proficient Unix skills, including development, navigation, file operations, permissions, search functions, and administrative tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a knack for quickly adapting to new technologies
  • A strong eagerness to delve deep into the ServiceNow Platform

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience with the ServiceNow platform, including scripting, tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as shell scripting, Python, and Javascript
  • Sound understanding of schemas, table spaces, indexing, and database performance optimization
  • Familiarity with CentOS/RedHat operating systems
  • Formal experience in a DevOps, Performance, or Support team specializing in Web-Based applications is advantageous
