Here at Harris, you’ll be working as part of 5 different business verticals, Public Sector, Healthcare, Utilities, Insurance and Private sector, with over 12,000 employees and more than 100,000 customers located in 200 countries around the globe. We need your help to keep growing and we hope you can become an integral part of the Harris family.
Job Summary:
We are hiring a hands-on AI Solutions Engineer to design and build the platform behind our next generation of AI-enabled healthcare products. You will own our API gateway and AI gateway, build and orchestrate AI agents in production, work directly with customers on healthcare topics such as FHIR, HIPAA and PHI, and lead and train the engineers who will join this team. We are looking for someone who has already built these systems and can explain, draw and defend their design.
We are modernizing its platform and adding AI capabilities across clinical and revenue cycle workflows. We are looking for an AI Solutions Engineer who has already built production AI systems and can both design and code them. You will own our API gateway, our AI gateway and the framework we use to build, orchestrate and monitor AI agents. You will be a technical voice for us with external healthcare customers, and the technical lead for a small AI engineering team that will grow around this role.
Primary Functions:
• Design and build CareTracker's API gateway: routing, authentication and authorization (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT), rate limiting, quotas and throttling, API versioning, request validation and monitoring.
• Design and build an AI gateway on top of LiteLLM (or similar) to route traffic across model providers such as Anthropic Claude and Azure OpenAI, with fallbacks, caching, budgets, token and cost tracking, and PHI redaction.
• Build AI agents and multi-agent workflows: tool calling, planning, agent orchestration, agent state and memory management, retries and human-in-the-loop steps.
• Build and integrate MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and clients so agents can safely use CareTracker data and services.
• Put full observability on agent pipelines using OpenTelemetry and Langfuse (or similar): traces, spans, prompt and response logging, evaluations, latency, cost and quality metrics.
• Write production code in Python, .
NET (C#) and TypeScript, and set coding and design standards for the team.
• Define how existing CareTracker services and data (Oracle, Postgres, HL7, FHIR, labs, eRx and claims interfaces) are exposed safely to APIs and agents.
• Meet with external customers and internal stakeholders to discuss healthcare workflows, interoperability (FHIR, HL7), HIPAA and PHI handling, and how our AI features work.
• Lead and train the engineers who join the AI team (initially a senior and a mid-level engineer): break down work, review code and designs, pair with them, and get them productive on agents, gateways and observability. Job
Qualifications:
The qualifications we are looking for are mixture of work experience and educational background. They are split into Minimum Qualifications (must have) and Additional Qualifications (nice to have) along with soft skills (competencies) needed for the role: Minimum
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years building distributed systems or platform services in production.
• 6+ years of experience coding in Python
• 5+ years of experience designing or operating API gateways (Azure API Management, Kong, Envoy, NGINX or custom), including rate limiting, authentication and API security.
• 3+ years of experience working with observability for AI systems: OpenTelemetry, Langfuse or similar tools for tracing, evaluation and monitoring of agent pipelines.
• 3+ years of experience working with LLMs, including Anthropic Claude (Claude API, tool use, Claude Code) and at least one other provider.
• 3+ years of experience with LiteLLM or another LLM gateway/proxy for model routing, rate limiting and cost control.
• 3+ years of experience building AI agents with frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph (or similar), including orchestration of multiple agents and agent state management.
• 3+ years of experience mentoring or leading engineers, with examples of people you helped grow and projects your team delivered.
• 3+ years of experience talking with customers and explaining technical designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• 2+ years of experience working with MCP (Model Context Protocol): building MCP servers and connecting tools to agents.
• 2+ years of experience working in the Healthcare industry FHIR and HL7 interoperability, HIPAA requirements, and secure handling of PHI.
• 2+ years of experience coding in .
NET (C#)
• 1+ years of experience working with TypeScript in the front-end. Additional
