Position Overview

Ulteig | Maxima Solutions is seeking qualified candidates for the Substation Design Electrical Engineer position to support Renewables/Utility/Power projects. The Substation Design Electrical Engineer develops and reviews utility substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, AC/DC Schematics, panel elevations, electrical equipment enclosure plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, and reports to ensure that they are complete, accurate, and by sound engineering practices and client standards.

What You'll Do

• Involved in the design, development, and drafting of plans for infrastructure projects on a given software platform for physical and/or protection and control equipment.

• Utilize knowledge of infrastructure design to provide technical guidance to other technicians.

• Coordinates specific design aspects of a project with limited engineer input.

What We Expect from You

• Two-year technical degree in Technical Drafting or equivalent.

• 7 or more years of infrastructure-related experience required.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with 3D software programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Bentley, Solidworks, Revit, and SketchUp; as well as graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop a plus.

• Ability to learn and successfully apply company, client, and project standards and procedures.

• Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with individuals in a team environment.

• Detailed drafting experience with substation electrical equipment layout, conduit design, grounding design, lighting design, lightning protection design, protection one-line diagrams, schematics, and interconnection wiring diagrams using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

• Thorough understanding of site layout logistics as it can relate to substation equipment layout for efficient drafting and ease of construction.

• Proven experience in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

• Good organization and communication skills to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
