Junior CAD Drafting Technician

Position Overview:

BMNS is looking for a Junior CAD Drafting Technician to assist engineers and designers by creating and modifying technical drawings and models using CAD software. This role is ideal for someone eager to contribute to the design and documentation process in a growing organization. As an entry-level CAD Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of the technical documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop 2D and 3D drawings based on sketches, specifications, and markups provided by engineers and designers.
• Utilize the latest version of Solidworks, Altium, and SolidEdge.
• Organize, update, and ensure the accuracy of CAD files, libraries, and related project documentation.
• Enter part numbers and related data/attributes into the ERP system.
• Utilize Engineering Vault/PDM to properly store and maintain Engineering drawings and models.
• Follow established CAD standards, drafting conventions, and company-specific guidelines in all drawing work.
• Apply GDT per ASME Y14.5 where appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and other team members to clarify design intent and resolve any drawing-related issues.
• Assist with fundamental calculations, such as area, weight, volume, and material take-offs, as directed.
• Perform FEA on designs when needed.
• Manage 3D Printing requests and queue.
• Maintain 3D Printers and Printing Lab.
• Determine appropriate 3D Printing techniques for each request.
• Run 3D Printers, including setup and post-processing/cleanup.
• Work closely and cross-functionally with various engineering divisions and business departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• 2-3 years of CAD Design experience or an Associate's Degree in Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, CREO).
• Strong interest in product design and development.
• Experience with 3D Printing or a willingness to learn about it.
• Good understanding of engineering drawing standards and drafting conventions.
• Ability to follow established CAD standards, company-specific guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, maintaining focus for extended periods.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) would be a plus.
• Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams.
• Availability to attend in-person training in the U.S.
• Advanced English level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., entering part numbers, documentation management).
• Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) tools.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Understanding of safety standards related to CAD work and 3D printing.

Additional Information:

• Availability to commute to La Asunción, Belén de Heredia.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00a.m.–4:00 p.m. Full-time role; candidate must be flexible with working hours based on operational needs.
