The Position
Impact Assessment plays a key role in ensuring that Panthera delivers on its ambitious goals for wildcat conservation. This position will report to the Director of Impact Assessment and serve as a thought partner for developing this thematic program within Panthera.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the development, alignment and implementation of Panthera's programmatic strategies, institutionalizing best practices in project planning, monitoring and evaluation, and aggregating programmatic outcomes to report on organization-wide impact.
The successful candidate will be required to have, and maintain, legal work authorization to work in the country of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Planning
- Lead regular evaluations of project, regional and organizational strategies and ensure their continued alignment.
- Create tools and materials to assist project directors in developing standardized project plans.
- Lead trainings for project and regional teams to apply standardized planning framework and work to build this capacity within each project and region.
- Support programmatic leadership in reviewing new and approved projects/contracts for fit with strategies.
Monitoring and Evaluating Impact
- Help design and institutionalize M&E feedback loops for all Panthera projects programs to ensure ongoing adaptive management.
- Collaborate with other cross-cutting teams and Panthera scientists to develop appropriate indicators for reporting on outcomes.
- Collaborate with other cross-cutting teams and Panthera scientists to test and evaluate the impact of interventions on wild cat populations across geographic and species contexts.
Sharing Lessons and Communicating Impact
- Ensure regular reporting and lesson sharing from Panthera projects.
- Develop standard dashboards at the project, regional and organizational level to communicate impact.
- Collaborate with Communications and Business Development Teams on materials and communications highlighting Panthera strategies and impact at multiple scales.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in program planning, management or monitoring and evaluation, preferably in a conservation-related field.
- Bachelor's degree in a conservation-related field.
- Experience in leading conservation planning workshops using the Conservation Standards:
- Experience in setting SMART project goals and objectives and developing appropriate indicators for evaluation.
- Proven experience developing and implementing conservation planning at multiple scales.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, including the ability to motivate, set objectives, and monitor performance of a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English. Portuguese is a plus. Ability to speak other languages an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to thrive in collaborative environments and the ability to manage work independently
- Facilitation skills.
- Self-motivated to achieve a collective purpose.
- Coaches training in the Conservation Standards.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in developing dashboards and other graphic forms of communication is a plus.
- Experience in species conservation programming
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel 30% of time.
