Reporting to the Latam Regional Head of Employment Law in Miami, this position will be responsible for providing employment legal support to all of the businesses of Latam’s Central America and Caribbean Cluster, covering Bahamas, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago.
The Role requires understanding of multiple functions and disciplines impacting the employment relationship, including understanding of recruitment protocols, compensation approaches, diversity and inclusion initiatives, employee relations and Human Resources Risk Control. English / Spanish language fluency is required.
**Responsibilities**:
- Be a trusted legal partner and work collaboratively with relevant internal groups to navigate sensitive and wide ranging issues including, discipline, investigations, hiring and recruitment, wage and hour, leaves of absences, workplace accommodations, How We Work and all aspects of terminations;
- Manage all employment litigations within the Cluster, respond to demand letters, subpoenas and administrative and government audits by labor ministries, and support the Regional Human Resources team
- Manage all external counsel interactions, monitor regulatory change and recommend Human Resources Policy adjustments
Required Background:
- 6- 10 years’ of experience in Employment Law or Labor law in civil code jurisdictions with exposure to common law legal systems
- Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent
- Advanced English level
- Membership of local Bar/ Lawyers Association
- In-house experience, and experience with global companies and/or financial institutions preferred
- Strong experience with employment legal advice and counsel as well as employment litigation
- Experience investigating complex and variable case(s) that have substantial impact to the businesses and working with internal investigative teams
- Ability to supervise internal investigations and provide support to other global functions
- Knowledge of eDiscovery issues
- Demonstrated report writing skills for presentation to senior management in a cohesive and comprehensive manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & SharePoint for compiling written reports and spreadsheets on an investigation
- Flexibility to work on call off hours/weekends during critical project phases, if necessary
- This position will be responsible for internal reporting on litigations, internal investigations and change in law at the Regional and Global level
- By working with more senior personnel on the team, the position provides knowledge development and mentoring as well as a path to advancement.

- Effective negotiation skills and ability to maintain effective relationships
