Design Lead

We're looking high and wide for an experienced Design Lead, fluent in brand, marketing, and, most of all, conceptual design to join our fierce and growing brand studio. We're growing the Smartsheet brand in every direction we can, and we need a visual ringer with an ability to concept in narrative, experience and systems with an insatiable appetite for human insight, empathy and connection to customers. In addition to being an expert in your craft, you will be an idea engine with the experience and discipline to execute flawlessly end-to-end.

You will report to the Creative Director located in Costa Rica.

**You will**:

- Ensure our work communicates clearly, is on-brand, and delights users.
- Manage and maintain design systems including media centers and Smartsheet hubs
- Explain and discuss design decisions eloquently, and give design feedback.
- Own the definition and creation of flexible, coherent design systems and component libraries.
- Work closely with design, technology, and project management to ensure the design meets creative, strategy, and project objectives.
- Design mood boards, comps, concept sketches, presentation decks, style guides, and storyboards.
- Oversee campaigns from conception to completion
- Generate ideas and design solutions that will resonate with various regions and languages
- Creating original design assets for effective campaigns
- Reviewing junior designers' and contractors work to ensure high quality
- Commissioning specialists, such as artists and photographers, to work on projects
- Maintain brand consistency throughout all our marketing projects
- Managing projects and meeting deadlines
- Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audience
- Support other duties

**You have**:

- 5+ years experience in a mid to senior-level position designing marketing collateral
- Thorough understanding of digital marketing and video
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to present ideas to various team members
- Mastery of design programs
- Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, XD)
- Motion is a bonus (After Effects)
- Web knowledge is a bonus (Zeplin, Webflow, HTML, CSS, Drupal CMS)
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Understanding of various cultures and trends
- Understanding of creative design and layout
- Strong visual design skills with attention to typography, layout, color, and consistency
- Strong file organization and graphic production skills
- Ability to utilize feedback/direction from the Creative Director to generate multiple design explorations and iterate those designs to the satisfaction of customer success.

- Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent professional experience
