**Job Description**

**Description and Responsibilities**

  • Senior member of the Cloud Services Engineering.
  • Participates in creation/evolution of the automation of the clouds services and the conversion into a working reference implementation.
  • Building a highly available, secure, globally performing automation that can be run on public cloud with elastic scalability.
  • Creation of an optimized pipeline for infrastructure-as-code - ensuring that the services are built from code + configuration, not manually and that all artefacts are version controlled.
  • Collaborating with operational, technical and non-technical business teams.

- Involved in delivery phases of the development and implementation

  • Construction, prioritization and management of both the backlog and underway development activities.
  • Development of code, documentation and any other artefacts required to convert the reference architecture to an implementation that can be handed over to and run effectively by the regional operational teams.
  • Creation of unit, load and performance tests to ensure the reference implementation is production ready.
  • Change management of existing artefacts to meet evolving needs.
  • Collaboration and communication both intra and inter team, to ensure that the servies are effective in delivering positive business outcomes.
  • Participation in retrospectives to examine deliveries over a period, highlighting what went well and what needs to improve - then taking ownership to embed those learnings within the team.
  • Work in an agile development environment, with a team of mixed development and infrastructure backgrounds, to ensure a mutually supported environment:
  • Offering assistance, coaching or mentoring to junior team members, where you have specific areas of expertise - to help grow others.
  • Reaching out for assistance from others, where you have areas for development - to help grow yourself.
  • Maintaining an open, collaborative and adaptable culture in the team - always challenging yourself and the group to adapt and grow in a changing business and technical environment.

**Qualifications**

**Requirements**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in either software development or infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to cross-skill into all areas of the role, where skills are not current.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - including English.
  • Strong design, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a geographically dispersed team.
  • Ability to self-motivate to deliver on assigned tasks within time and to desired quality levels.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly with little supervision.
  • Ability to analyse problems, design, develop, implement, test and refactor in Go.
  • Ability to review proposals for stories, evaluating risks and possible alternatives, providing estimates for both cost and time and making a recommendation to management.
  • Ability to assist and mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Due to the distributed nature of the team, flexible working hours will be required from time-to-time, to accommodate multiple geographies.

**Skills**

  • Programming/scripting skills to automate everything - Golang required, other languages useful.
  • Experience with Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Linux Systems administration - Windows useful.
  • Ability to communicate to a broad range of stakeholders - from across the organisation.
  • Can represent the Cloud Services Engineering in dealings with customers and colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Experience in at least seven of the following areas

  • Agile SDLC - both Kanban and Scrum
  • Linux, preferably Red Hat (RHEL)
  • Kubernetes
  • Git version control
  • Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
  • Public Cloud Solutions - AWS EC2, S3, ELB, VPCs (or Azure/GCP equivalents)
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL database systems
  • MicroServices architecture
  • Virtualization environments
  • Architectural experience - Application or Technology (TOGAF useful)
  • Networking concepts - DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, etc.
  • Development patterns (GoF) or Enterprise Integration Patterns (Fowler et al.)
  • Architectural artefact creation - Visio and Powerpoint/OmniGraffle preferred
