What you will do:

- Be a reference inside and outside the company in best practices and software development methodologies.
- Perform incremental innovations and improvements for the company or customer.
- Coach other team members on proficient languages and frameworks.
- Provide technical and practical value on multiple projects and initiatives.
- Deliver, implement, and make decisions about the entire solution architecture.
- Encourage others to propose improvements in the company’s best practices, standards, and methodologies.
- Assertively estimated projects and provided timely follow-up, including architecture, technology definition, and integrations.
- Be part of the multi-disciplinary and guidance teams that exist in the company as needed.
- Seek continuous improvement in all assigned tasks, procedures, and responsibilities.

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**:

- This person must reside in Costa Rica.
- Advanced English.
- 9+ years of professional experience as an engineer shipping production software.
- You have up-to-date knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- You feel confident working with workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow), technical design skills, and ETL tools.
- You have designed and built REST and GraphQL (Apollo) APIs with Node.js and Express for software currently in production.
- Database Management.
- You are comfortable with Database and schema design.
- You know how to optimize relational and NoSQL databases for scale and have done it in a production environment.
- You know how to optimize queries.
- For Postgres, you can leverage Materialized Views.
- You are comfortable with AWS and setting up, maintaining and optimizing deployment pipelines using: Serverless services on AWS - IaC (CloudFormation/SAM) - DynamoDB RDS - (Postgres) - EKS/Kubernetes.
- CI/CD pipeline building and maintaining and optimizing.
- You feel comfortable building a CI/CD pipeline from scratch and maintaining and optimizing a pipeline for more efficient deployment to a serverless AWS environment.
- You have designed solutions and services for production software.
- You have had to break down extensive services or features and refactor them into more minor services or feature sets.
- You have worked with teams of 10-50 people to implement your design solutions.
- You have enterprise experience.
- You understand the importance of good testing and have experience and opinions about modern testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Bonuses: Express/NextJS experience - Message queue experience like SQS/Kafka.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Ability to identify and solve problems logically and efficiently.
