Background

The Peacebuilding Commission has been engaged with Liberia since 2010, supporting programs to strengthen rule of law, security sector, and legal reforms. The PBF Secretariat has been established to coordinate monitoring approaches between projects and monitor progress against the peacebuilding context.

Pbf Programming Support to Mano River Union Countries

The Mano River Union region comprises Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The region has undergone several decades of conflict and has now returned to stability. However, tensions remain, particularly in border areas, and reconciliation is a work in progress.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Peacebuilding Officer will report to the Resident Coordinator for Liberia and will provide guidance to the RCs and UN Country Teams in the four countries of the Mano River Union region. The incumbent will identify entry points for cross-border and sub-regional peacebuilding initiatives, support programme design and elaboration, and provide analysis on sub-regional challenges.
