Job Overview:

As an Assistant Director - Sr. Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our customer-centric business forward by designing and implementing expert software services to process real-time news feeds. These feeds often have stringent sub-second requirements, necessitating a high degree of technical proficiency and attention to detail.

You'll be part of a highly motivated team responsible for handling millions of digital assets daily, working closely with cross-functional teams to overcome complex challenges and drive business objectives forward.

This role demands expertise in multiple technologies, including TypeScript development skills, high-performance computing, and superb programming abilities. You'll provide expert-level advice on project requirements, author technical design documents, and take ownership of business missions/epics and stories.

A key aspect of this role is collaborating across functional and project teams to address difficult defects, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert-level guidance on multiple technologies across projects
  • Author technical design documents for shared modules
  • Take ownership of Business Missions/Epics and stories; Implement and test features based on requirements
  • Collaborate across functional and project teams to assist in fixing complex defects
  • Contribute to improving engineering practices
  • Participate in training sessions and knowledge sharing across teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related majors from accredited institutions (Master's preferred)
  • Deep understanding of Object-Oriented design and programming
  • Clear comprehension of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Expertise with AWS cloud environments, RabbitMQ, and Kafka
  • Proficiency in Programming Languages: Node.js with TypeScript
  • Experience with Service/Microservice-oriented architecture/web services (SOAP/REST) and CORS
  • Familiarity with SQL Databases: SQL (MySQL) and other NoSQL engines
  • Competence in Jira, Git, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, CI/CD
  • Expertise in Development Platforms: Linux
  • Comfortable with Development tools: Visual Studio Code, Eclipse (CDT), and others
  • Experience with API gateways for maintainability and observability (a plus)
  • Ability to build large-scale high-volume APIs with RESTful endpoints
  • Quick learner of new technologies, motivated to share knowledge with others
  • Effective communicator of technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with agile processes, including SCRUM; mentorship in improving development processes
