The Role:
We're seeking a highly skilled Cloud Computing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you'll work alongside major cloud partners to develop, test, and release improvements to cloud-init, a critical tool in the world of cloud computing.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our distributed team to write high-quality code, debug issues, and produce robust solutions
- Develop new features and fix existing issues using unit and functional tests
- Review code produced by other engineers to ensure quality and consistency
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding effective solutions
- Work from home with occasional global travel for internal and external events
About You:
We're looking for someone who is passionate about building tools used by millions of developers. You should have excellent Python skills, with substantial contributions to open source Python projects preferred. A personal interest in quality, documentation, and community coordination is essential.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field
- Extensive experience with Python on Linux
- Interest and experience in two or more of the following: Ubuntu Linux, kernel or userspace, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, cloud computing, linux system fundamentals
Bonus Points:
- Experience provisioning and managing instances on major public clouds
- Experience driving an open source community
