Responsibilities- Liaise with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements, and work plans, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient use of resources.
- Prepare equipment and chemicals before lessons, guaranteeing a safe and effective learning experience for students.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and materials, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies for optimization.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and chemicals and other materials are stored securely, upholding the highest standards of health and safety.
- Support teachers in classes and laboratory sessions, providing expert technical advice and guidance to both staff and students.
- Manage stock control of chemicals and equipment, procuring necessary supplies and materials in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Head of Science to obtain annual budgets and resources, prioritizing essential expenditures and allocating funds effectively.
- Place orders, verify deliveries, and process invoices, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless financial management.
- A degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry or biology, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and priorities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a secure and healthy working environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures, with the ability to maintain and repair apparatus as needed.
